Eyebrows: The frame for your work of art
When it comes to beauty, you are probably always looking for the step that will make the most significant impact in refreshing your look. There are already several hybrid products on the market that can help achieve a natural finish and, above all, that are easy to apply. However, the step that will be the most transformative is eyebrow makeup. Whether it's a few strokes of pencil, a light application of powder, or even a thin layer of brow gel, giving a little love to your eyebrows will go a long way.
A well-groomed eyebrow
Sometimes, knowing where to start with eyebrow shape and style is hard. That's why we suggest a visit to your esthetician, who will probably be able to help you with the maintenance of your eyebrows. They will take care of plucking your eyebrows and offer you the best curve for your face shape. Once the visit is complete, you'll already have a good foundation. More importantly, you'll know where you stand regarding eyebrow maintenance. If you don't feel comfortable managing new hair growth, we suggest a visit every 3 months, depending on how fast your eyebrows grow.
How to apply eyebrow makeup
Eyebrow makeup should always be applied sparingly and lightly. Our best advice? Use a magnifying mirror to make it easier. Make sure that you examine your artistry from a distance to avoid making your eyebrows too harsh and artificial-looking. When applying makeup, no matter what tool you use, remember that you want to imitate hair, so application should be done with small strokes of the wrist, respecting the direction of hair growth.
The perfect shade
Before selecting your eyebrow product, choose the right shade. We suggest you select a shade paler than your hairline; this way, you'll get a natural result. If you opt for a colour that's too dark, it will only weigh down and harden your gaze. You can choose a somewhat darker tone if you have white or very pale blond hair from root to tip. But again: go easy on the makeup so it remains natural.
Best tips for your eyebrows
Sparse eyebrows
A very fine eyebrow pencil will help you imitate your eyebrow hairs, one stroke at a time. Make sure you have a brush with a tip. If you apply too much eyebrow makeup, a few strokes with the brush will soften it all up.
Fine eyebrows
Use a very fine beveled brush to apply brow powder. It'll give you a base color to support your brows.
Unruly eyebrows
Applying a clear brow gel can tame your brows and keep them in place. If you combine this product with any other eyebrow product, it will last longer. You can also use a tinted gel to add texture, colour and volume.
Eyebrows with patchers and/or no hair:
This technique is for the pros or those who want an incredibly realistic finish. Use this tool carefully to draw one hair at a time in the desired places. With dexterity and patience, you'll achieve the perfect eyebrow.
Pro tips
When applying, use a work surface to anchor the elbow of the hand that will be applying the eyeliner. Your hand will be much more stable during application.
Eyebrow makeup will give you a neater, younger look. You can do it as part of a complete makeup routine or simply when you're out shopping without necessarily having the time to put other products on your face. When you give your eyebrows some TLC, your eyes will always be a work of art.
