Make your eyes pop with these easy tips
Ever wish you could make your eyes look bigger with just a few makeup tricks? Well, now you can! These techniques give a youthful appearance and make your eyes look larger as though you had a full eight hours of beauty sleep and add a touch of brightness to your gaze.
Say goodbye to puffiness
First things first, a good skincare routine can make your face appear brighter and more hydrated. To tackle facial puffiness, try products labelled as lifting, plumping, or depuffing. If your eyes are really puffy, keep your products in the fridge—applying them cold can help reduce swelling. You can also try Gua Sha techniques to boost blood circulation, refine facial contours, and enhance the eye area.
Brighten and widen
One of the quickest ways to make your eyes appear larger is to use nude eyeliner on your waterline. This trick makes your eyes seem bigger and gives the illusion of whiter eyes. While skin tones differ, you’ll find a range of shades available to match your complexion. For a more natural look, choose a shade a tad lighter than your skin tone; a stark white liner may look too dramatic.
Boost your lashes
To create the illusion of bigger eyes and a lifted look, use an eyelash curler. Start by gently pressing at the base of your lashes, then work your way up to the tips. Follow up with one or two coats of lengthening mascara, and you’ll have lashes worthy of a red carpet moment.
A little more length, please
If you’re ready for a more advanced technique, use fake eyelashes. You can usually find fake eyelashes ranging from 8 mm to 12 mm at the drugstore. Remember, the goal is not to choose the longest lashes but rather those that blend naturally with your own and add a subtle hint of length. Apply them only to the outer corners of your eyes for a wider, lifted effect. You can’t find the right fake eyelashes? You can use strip lashes—just trim the outer corners and apply them to the ends of your lash line.
Play of light
To further enhance your eyes, use makeup strategically and sparingly. A pearly eyeshadow that’s a bit lighter than your skin tone applied to the inner corners of your eyes and slightly under the brow arch will give an instant lift and a fresh glow. Keep it subtle for a natural finish.
Now that you’ve got a few handy tips to help you through tough mornings or add something extra to your look. The key is subtlety—no one will know your bright-eyed look got a little help from makeup!
