This medication is typically used for an excess of potassium in the blood. Even though you may not feel its effects, this medication takes effect within a few hours.
Instructions
This product must be used according to the instructions provided by your pharmacist. For more information, read the instructions in the package carefully.
Do not take any medication in the 3 hours preceding or the 3 hours following the use of this resin. The resin could greatly reduce the absorption of other drugs.
This medication is typically used only once a day. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed.
If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but do not take two doses the same day. This medication may be taken with or without food.
Side effects
In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:
- it may cause diarrhea or constipation, depending on the person;
- it may cause gas and bloating;
- it may cause abdominal discomfort;
- it may cause nausea or, rarely, vomiting.

Storage
Keep this product in the refrigerator. If stored at room temperature, it will remain effective for 6 months only. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed of safely.
