OneTouch® technology for diabetes
Over time, diabetes management has undergone considerable technological advances, in order to improve the health of people with this chronic disease. Tools for blood sugar monitoring must be accurate and safe, and most importantly, trustworthy for users.
Choosing a glucometer
When choosing a glucometer, certain criteria are essential: ease of use, reliability, precision and comfort at the time of testing.
Blood glucose monitors (BGMs) support optimal diabetes self-management and remain an important tool for patients. Measuring devices are now smaller and more accurate, require less blood and offer more features that can be used in conjunction with a mobile app on your smartphone. Additionally, for patients using a continuous glucose monitor, it is recommended to have a “traditional” glucometer on hand, in case the alerts and blood glucose readings do not match symptoms or expectations.
The option of a glucometer with lancing device
Lifescan offers two types of blood glucose meters, the OneTouch Verio Flex® and the OneTouch Verio Reflect®. These glucometers must be used with the OneTouch® Delica® Plus lancing device to perform your test. The OneTouch® Delica® Plus lancing device is included in the meter kits and can be used to perform your glucose check.
These models are similar and both offer the ability to sync the meter with the OneTouch Reveal® mobile app. Both readers feature ColourSure® technology, which displays results in colour based on targets and whether they are low or high.
The OneTouch Verio Reflect® model offers an advanced option of ColourSure® technology by indicating the blood glucose index and whether it is approaching a low or high level so as not to be outside the target. This reader also provides guidance, information and encouragement through Blood Sugar Mentor™ messages, making it easier to understand the results.
Virtually Pain-Free Testing
Many patients are concerned about the pain associated with blood sugar testing when it must be done using a lancing device. The frequency of testing can create great discomfort and this is why the OneTouch® Delica® Plus lancing device has been designed in particular to allow better control offering its user different options and settings to help reduce discomfort.
The size of the lancet
The OneTouch® Delica® lancing device offers two lancet sizes: 30G and 33G versus the competition with the 28G. As the lancet size increases, the needle thickness decreases. By opting for a needle with a thinner lancet, it is possible to reduce the discomfort associated with the test!

Changing the lancet
People with diabetes are recommended to use a new lancet for each test performed to ensure a hygienic and pleasant experience. Reusing a lancet has been shown to potentially blunt or deform the tip of the lancet, causing skin damage, scarring, and an increased risk of pain and infection.
